The Meat of The Matter
Definition and explanation regarding 'gear inches': What they are and how we calculate them. Gear Inches are a meaningless (in the modern sense) indicator for comparison's sake. Small values (under thirty inches) are low, suitable for climbing while keeping your cadence high. Large values (one hundred and up) are high, good for fast work in the flats. Basically, divide the front tooth count by the rear value, then mutiply by the rear wheel diameter in inches. ¡Viola! For more useful quantities check out the 'Metric' Page.
